OK, so I’m sure a lot of you have heard about this story already. It’s stirring up a lot of contraversy, let me tell you. Basically, Oprah had a couple featured on her show, and the husband was a man that used to be a woman. The issue there was the fact that the husband was pregnant. He chose to keep his uterus while having surgery to transform himself into a man, because he always knew he wanted to have a child. It may seem a little farfetched to most people- the idea of a husband being pregnant. But honestly, I think that it doesn’t really matter. Even on top of the fact that he knew he wanted to have kids, his wife was unable to have kids, anyway. He was born a woman and used that to his advantage so that he could have the best of both worlds. I’m sure many people would be against the idea of a husband giving birth, it’s certainly non-traditional. But, when you think about it, the child needs one thing to grow into a healthy human being – love. And it seems from this episode that the couple was ready and willing to do absolutely anything for their child – something that is uncommon even in some traditional families these days. People make a fuss over little details that really don’t matter… What matters here is that both parents (no matter what their sexual identity) are fully prepared to raise this child in a healthy environment.
